You may want to work with a trusted adult to create a personal account so you don't lose access to your stuff after this summer.
For the next 4 TechTime classes fifth graders will rotate through four coding activities. Each activity stretches your coding thinking in a different way.
During this time of the year we face advertisements all around us. During this TechTime session we will spend time playing a fun video game which helps us identify advertising gimmicks. We will use an installed version at school, but you can create your own account to use the online version and save your progress! We will also have some fund with a second advergame: Elf Yourself.
Our Fifth Graders sure do!
During recent TechTime rotations fifth graders have been learning about their access to Google's online tools called the "G-Suite" (formerly "Google Apps for Education"). Students have been practicing using their login username and password to sign into the school's online portal which is a single sign-on to access many subscription services. We have focused on accessing the Google Drive and using Google Docs and Slides.
What are we learning?
Welcome to Interland--a magical world of internet safety adventures.
The main ideas you will learn about by playing these games are:
We are never too old to learn more about staying safe online!
Fifth graders met with Professor Garfield to learn more about cyberbullying, what it is, and how to deal with it.
And everyone loves to go back to visit Clicky and the NetSmartz gang! And don't forget about the great resources for teens and adults at NetSmartz!
Google wants kids to "Be Internet Awesome!" and you can play your way to being Internet Awesome with Interland, an online adventure that puts the key lessons of digital safety into hands-on practice with four challenging games.
